KUWAIT MEN’S WORLD OPEN 2009: A LAND MARK IN KUWAIT'S SPORTING HISTORY By Jahangir Khan

The Men’s World Open was awarded to Sheikha Fadyah Al-Sabah by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and the World Squash Federation (WSF) as a result of her historical endeavours over many years of hosting tournaments within Kuwait and the total prize fund of US$277,500 for this year’s tournament is the largest ever offered by any World Open or World Tour squash event.

The championship promises to be the biggest and best in the sports history and will be a fitting climax to the long-term contribution of Sheikha Fadyah Al-Sabah whose vision and generosity has provided massive opportunity to the world of squash.

The Kuwait Men’s World Open 2009, is the culmination of more than four years meticulous planning and represents a landmark in Kuwait’s sporting history.

This innovative vision to stage the greatest squash event ever has been personally directed by Sheikha Fadyah Al-Sabah, who has carefully assembled a team of leading professionals to manage all aspects of event management under her direction to bring to life the colour and excitement of the world’s leading squash tournament.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Kuwait will provide a great showcase for our sport and I am personally honoured that Sheikha Fadyah Al-Sabah has asked me to help her with the staging of the championship and to have been be a part of this historic event.
