Bidding to become the first player since Pakistan legend Jansher Khan to win the world title three times in a row, Matthew now meets Egypt's Tarek Momen, the 13th seed from Cairo who despatched Australian Ryan Cuskelly 11-6 11-8 11-6.

Matthew joins fellow internationalSPORTgroup players Peter Barker and Alister Walker in the last 16 – Alister Walker defeated Shaun le Roux of South Africa 11-9 11-6 11-5 to face 4 time champion Amr Shabana, whilst Peter Barker will play faces Borja Golan of Spain.
