Paul Walters Appointed Championship Director For 2013 Men’s World Squash Championship

The World Championship will be the climax of next year's Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour programme  - Manchester follows Rotterdam, Al-Khobar (Saudi Arabia) and Kuwait City as the most recent hosts for the sport's ultimate championship. It promises to be a spectacular occasion, as it was when last held in Manchester in 2008, and is the latest in a distinguished series of World Championships across many sports to be held in the city since the Commonwealth Games in 2002.

England Squash & Racketball Chief Executive Nick Rider, said: “We are delighted to appoint Paul Walters as Event Director for the 2013 championships. Paul is highly experienced in this area and has worked with ESR and Manchester across many leading events, including as Event Director for the highly successful Hi-Tec World Squash Championships in 2008.”

Eamonn O'Rourke, Head of Community and Cultural Services, Manchester City Council, said: "Manchester is the centre of squash in the UK and we are excited to be welcoming the world's best squash players back to the city. I am sure that the Men's World Championship will be a major highlight on the sporting calendar for 2013.

Simon Morton , Director of Major Events and International Relations at UK Sport, concluded: "The 2013 Men's World Squash Championship is part of a growing portfolio of events that we have secured post-London 2012, which also includes the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London and the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, demonstrating the strength of our commitment to establish the UK as a leading host of major events.”

Event Partners England Squash & Racketball, Manchester City Council and UK Sport , have announced the appointment of Paul Walters as Championship Director for the 2013 Men’s World Squash Championship to be staged in Manchester.
